then i turn it off manually from the on/off botton and then turn in back on it will recognize the O/S

This points to corupt or missing IO.SYS or MSDOS.SYS just pop in the start up disk and run this in the A: prompt typ SYS c: all the others are not even close when it comes to answering this one right. Please take my word for this one Mike Meyers has been working on computers way longer then any one on this answers. http://www.comptia.com check it out and you will see for your self.

It means it can't find an MBR ( Master boot Record ) or an O/S

Either the Boot record of your disk or the entire disk has been erased.

You will need to install an Operating system to make it work

Hard drive is not functioning, either it is the circuit that links the drive to your CPU is broken or the drive itself, it is the only explanation for computer just quit out the blue.

Check the power, check the ribbon cable, check the BIOS for any recognition of your hard drive, including the mentioning of SMART if you got it running.

it sound like your hard disk is damage or closer to get damage you may try turning on your PC for sometime like 5-to 10 minutes till it gets worm then reboot it may work to backup your files.

Either your hard drive took a dump or you have a bad connection to the hard drive.

change the position of the jumper connected to the hard disk if every thing else is fine according to you.
