Oh gawd...now people are quoting television shows for scientific data?

When "all your body functions cease" you are dead. The question was quite clear: the operational word being "all"...not 'near zero'. All.

But there was a movie, "The House of Usher", from the Edgar Allen Poe novel, where they incorrectly used the term "catalepsy" for this condition...and buried people alive.

No - although in the past people in comas used to be mistaken for dead and buried. It's where the phrase 'dead ringer' comes from - it became custom to bury people with a line in the coffin attached to a bell above ground, so that if they weren't dead they could ring the bell and be exhumed.

No. But you can be frozen and revived, especially if you have a high Alcohol concentration.

Their is no disease that stops your bodily functions and doesn't kill you. f your heart stops for moe that 5 minutes, you are dead baby! Unless you have been frozen very well, in which case you have as long as 30 minutes if you are revived correctly.

Dunno.

There was amove called 'the serpent and the rainbow' , which featured zombie powder.

Zombie powder paralyses the victim, they can't move or speak. Their system slows down so drastically, they are mistaken for dead.
