Australia is the
-driest inhabited continent
- the flattest
-has the oldest and least fertile soils.
but not the hottest as such, it is however mainly desert and semi-arid land.

South Africa ends at 35ºS & Australia at 38ºS and Antarctica's closest part to Equator is on the Antarctic circle (66º.55S). Whole of Europe can be fitted in that space. Austarlia shares almost the same latitude range (10ºS to 38ºS) as India (8ºS to 35ºS) with both Tropics cutting each of these in the middle, while the much smaller (7½ times) South Africa lies between the Tropic of Capricorn (23º.45S) & 35ºS.

If by 'hottest' you mean the weather - definitely not. The oceans moderate the heat, even in the deserts, to some extent.
The hottest areas are in West Asia and North Africa.

I don't think so. They have the problem with the ozone hole that is now over parts of Australia and New Zealand. It's a UV radiation issue.
