all of you repsondents stating that you're insulted, or that dowrys no longer exist....need to read the question. did the asker want to know if dowrys are still used in the cilvilized world?..or if you were insulted?....no!
so, next time you dolts answer someone's question...do everyone a favor....read the question, stay within the parameters of the question and just give a straightforward answer! geez!

In most civilized cultures the concept of a dowry has been removed. Women no longer need to pay for a man to marry them.
Furthermore most useful men can make their own money without being a parasite on the family of the girl.
