In electronic music, a loop is a sample which is repeated. "Loops are short sections of tracks (probably between one and four bars in length), which you believe might work being repeated." A loop is not "any sample, but...specifically a small section of sound that's repeated continuously." Contrast with a one-shot sample. (Duffell 2005, p.14) "A loop is a sample of a performance that has been edited to repeat seamlessly when the audio file is played end to end."

Music hooks are such identifiable portion of the a music album or a song through which a song or a music could be recalled. And by making a loop of this hook, this small part can be played again and again.

In music the term loop describes finite element of sound which is repeated by technical means (i.e. tape loops, delay effects, digital sampling). While the roots of non-technical "looping" can be found in almost all cultures, but most prominently in Gaelan, the first loop musicians were Edgar Varese and Karlens Stockhausen.

Generally a loop is something that when repeated will sound seamless.
So for example a drum loop might be a bass drum played over and over, but you won't be able to tell when the sample repeats itself because there is no definite start and finish to the sample when it is played over and over.

Usually used in terms of rap or techno. It's a short "clip" of music, often only a few seconds long, that is repeated over and over to make up a sort of beat.
