Any animal can become infected with rabies if bitten by another rabid animal - even humans.
Possibly what you meant - what animals are known carriers? Raccoons are the first that come to mind.
I live in the south and we usually will have several reports in the summer of rabid animals being found.

Rabies is such a threat because it can survive in almost any host mammal and can only be definitively diagnosed by brain biopsy after death. I currently work for a vet and I have seen information come through the office about cases this year in dogs, cats, horses, bats, and humans. The disease now resides mostly in bats and smaller forrest animals. These animals then bite or somehow make fluid to fluid contact with domestic animals, which is generally why it is a risk to dogs, cats and horses, and through them a risk to humans as well.

Any animal, including humans, can be rabid, if infected with rabies. But this is a disease that has mostly vanished in the civilised world. Pasteur had experimented with sheep to find the vaccine for it. Dogs and chacals are mostly known for it, only because they bite and the disease is spred through biting.

Rabies is NOT transmitted by just ANY animal. It is exclusive to mammals last time I knew.
Also, It is highly unlikely that an Opossum will have rabies. They are naturally immune to it as a species.

I believe opossums are carriers. They don't "catch" as in become ill and die but they can catch and spread it to other species that will become ill. The some of the major carriers are racoons, skunks, canines (esp. out of U.S. in dogs) and bats. Strangly it's not uncommon in horses either.

Pretty much any mammal can get it. If you mean known carriers of the disease then usually raccoons and stray dogs.
