Moreover, should I pay all in advance, as it is always asked or there is the chance that some company does accept something like 50/50%?
I've been looking for "gold suppliers" companies in Alibaba.com and is this the place where to look for?

Do not pay in advance! If you pay and no shipment arrives its bye-bye investment. What you should do is go to a bank and try to inquire about a letter of credit(LOA) you should tell the bank that you are going to import goods from japan/china they will often advice you what to do. Alibaba for me is a good place to search for suppliers also try EC21 or importers.com But of course, check out the company profiles of importers and try to contact them before divulging in.
