Email Digital ID's (Certificates)?

Suggestions from anyone regarding email digital id certificates. Is their any advantages in paid from free Digital ID's? Are paid ID's much secure and credible than the free ones?

The paid ones are issued (and certified) by officially recognized certification authorities. They are more trustworthy, because these authorities issue certificates only after verifying the idntity of the person or company they are certifying.

On security, they're no different. The paid IDs give you the benefit of longer expiration dates (one year instead of 60 days or less), your name on the certificate, and such.
