As one answerer stated, you need to know whether you watched rugby league or rugby union. My guess would be it was rugby union. You can have a look at one of my old answers about what the difference between rugby league and rugby union at the link below. Look for the part that starts with 'Method of Play' to see the difference in how the game is played. The answer link is here

After you determine which code, rugby league or rugby union, you can go to the national web sites in America (USA).
For rugby union, it is:
http://www.usarugby.org/

'USA Rugby Youth & High School Home Page'
http://www.usarugby.org/youth/index.html

I found one listing for South Carolina;
South Carolina High School Rugby League: Jeff Smolka
at this page
http://www.usarugby.org/youth/ydoList.html

For rugby league, it is:
http://www.amnrl.com/

You can find a list of rugby league teams here, but I do not think one is near South Carolina.

For some online information, you may want to visit the following sites, which has some coaching, drills, vidoes, etc.

Find out the address and contact numbers of the nearest rugby football union. Contact them and they will inform you of your nearest club. Join the club and the coach will teach you the basics of the game.

The rest is up to you (how hard you practice and how committed you are).
