Don't say it's because of the fans...we've ALWAYS been supportive of our team. So we're not jumping on the bandwaggon like everyone is saying. Yes, our jerseys absolutely suck, they look like a slug. But seriously..? They win games, they play clean...so what is it?

I understand wanting your own team to win, but a lot of people seem to be putting down the Sabres bc they're winning and saying they're just gonna go back to how they used to be.

But *every* team (well, their fans) do that! If there's a winning streak, or if the team is doing extremely well, of course the fans will get excited and start talking about the Cup! Do you hate every other team when they start talking about winning the Cup?

Just so you know, just because a few fans are going on saying we'll go undefeated, doesn't mean we all think that. Don't say Sabres fans don't have a brain. It would be IMPOSSIBLE to win 82 games...it's something funny to jooke about, but we didn't think it would ACTUALLY happen. I'm not saying you have to like the team because their winning games, I'm just curious as to why people still think the Sabres are failures!! People on here are would be the exact same way if their team was top in their conferance or if their team didn't win the Cup (and no, I'm not whining, just giving examples). True, there are people on here (and in general) that have common sense and don't just hate a team bc of their record...and I completely understand if you don't like teams bc you have your own team that you follow...but seriously...the Ducks are #1 and people aren't talking crap about them saying that they're gonna choke

People love to hate the winners. They're one of the best teams right now. But people don't seem to notice hockey on the west coast, you don't hear anyone hating the Ducks.

as a resident in a suburb of Buffalo and avid Sabres fan when you consider that my first holiday to the Aud interior the late 80s, i'm angered with the help of the cocky attitudes of a few of my fellow Sabres followers. the team has finished o.k. this season, besides the undeniable fact that it hasn't been a coach of domination. there grew to become into no 'cord to cord' lead interior the eastern convention standings. technically, Atlanta held the suited spot for some day or 2. the Stanley Cup isn't offered based ultimate the %.. you ought to muck and grind your way in the time of the playoffs. good now, the team is having problems. you may throw out regardless of excuses you prefer, be it the ice high quality at MSG or the disallowed objective with slightly seconds left in game 4 or regardless of rubbish you're able to make up. if the Sabres had performed an entire game, the disallowed objective could have comprise a a million or 2 objective lead, making the call a trifling formality. as far as i comprehend, no team has ever swept their thank you to the championship. it is why those sequence are 7 video games long. if i'm incorrect, please tell me. sit down there and whine and cry approximately "no objective" and the league and that's officers screwing the Sabres. you in uncomplicated terms coach how silly you're because of the fact those of you who do it have been in all probability the comparable ones knocking on Isles and Rangers followers who have been interior the comparable undertaking. you will in all probability additionally be the comparable people who will turn removed from this team while that's not doing so nicely. and it will take place. it quite is a cycle. communities get warm and then they cool off. will the Sabres win? who knows of. i will in uncomplicated terms wish. i'm not waiting to declare they're going to. my success, it may well be a jinx.

It IS because the fans. Oh we won our first 5 games I bet we will go 82-0. Hey if they said that JOKINGLY I could understand but they were being serious. Oh we won 10 games, only 72 to go. It wasn't going to happen, and everyone with even the smallest brain KNEW that. On the other hand Sabres fans seem to have no brain and kept talking about how they were going to go undefeated. Then you have to add the crybaby fans from last year. Oh we would have won the Cup if we wouldn't have had injuries. We were REALLY the best team but our players got hurt. They are STILL whining like that too. Oh we only lost that game because our player was hurt and no big deal we lost that one game. I saw someone on here ask the question basically saying well how big of a deal is it that you won when one of our players was hurt. What your WHOLE team can't win if ONE player is hurt? Personally I prefer bandwagon fans to WHINY fans. Also you point out the other thing. They win games, so what is wrong with them? Just because they WIN doesn't mean we should like them. I was a Penguins fan though the last couple years where they were horriable. Should I have stopped being a fan because they weren't winning? Oh and that is part of why I don't like the Sabres, I am a Penguins fan. Remember the Northeast division? So Penguins fans will go on not liking Sabres from those days.

I think there are 2 reasons. #1,Buffalo is in first place and looking like they may dominate the East for a long time, and winning teams always generate hate. #2, I think a lot of fans arent't really happy with the new NHL rules. Because the Sabres are so well suited to the new NHL, people who preferred the old style are focusing a lot of their resentment on Buffalo.
As far as I'm concerned, if they keep winning and people keep hating them, I won't have a problem with that.

everyone hates the Sabres because they all know that the Sabres are going to demolish their team every time they meet... there is a lot of bandwagon fans because i live in Buffalo and a year ago you could have gotten tickets but because of last year you cant. So there is obviously bandwagon fans... I've loved the Sabres since i was about 4 years old and just starting hockey. Brad May was my favorite....
LETS GO BUFFALO!

People seem to hate the Sabres because we are a small market team without a "Superstar". Never mind the fact that Briere is almost a point a night player and that Afinogenov can win games by himself this year(Not to mention Miller, Vanek and Campbell)
Everyone is in love with the "name players" (Jagr, Crosby, Malkin, Ovechkin...) Yes they are all good, but the Sabres work together and get wins(sometimes it's not pretty)
Also, I think that Buffalo in general has a "loser" mentality stamped on them by the media. The 4 Superbowl loses, the "No-Goal" lose. The fact that we had no healthy defensemen last year in the playoffs, added to what has become almost a curse to this city's sports franchises.
The media portrays us as losers..as also-rans, and we are really the only ones who don't believe this. Look at how well the Bills have played in the last month. They had lost 7 games this year, only 2 by more than 8 points. Our last 2 loses are a combined 4 points! This to the Colts by 1 and the Chargers by 3(Two of the best teams in the AFC) You tell me how the Bills are losers.
The Sabres had two bad games on this current road trip(Washington and Florida) I admit, we looked pretty bad at Washington, and we have historiclly had problems with the Panthers...remember Lindy was an assistant with them the year they made it to the Stanley Cup finals. Other than that, we lost by 1 second in OT to Montreal, a shootout lose to Atlanta and we got beat up at home by Toronto(which sounded like a home game for them)
So, really I don't understand why everyone has to disrespect us. We have yet to lose two in a row, yet all the media can talk about is the so-so Penguins and the Rangers. meanwhile the Hurricanes and Sens are barely getting by and you don't hear anyone beating up on either of them.
So to answer your question...I have no answer. just enjoy all of our great sports teams..both pro and college and ignor the losers who have to find fault with almost everything that we do.

Everyone hates a winner. People root for the underdog then when that underdog becomes the top dog all of a sudden everyone hates them. What a load of crap. I think the Sabres are doing a great job considering they have no 'superstar' on their team. They are young, fast and skilled. They have many great years ahead of them.

you remember at the start of this season the streak they where on well the Sabres fans did talk **** and were thinking of going 82-0 for the season its the same as the Leafs fans well not as bad as them but the Leafs fans still think they have the best team and when they win 2 or 3 games in a row then they start talking smack like most of the Sabres fans did at the start of the season.
and the reason nobody is saying anything about the DUCKS is cause they have no fans so there's no real reason to ***** about them, i only cheer for one team and you know who they are.
novaicedo...>>>>we all know it wasn't a goal even Brett Hull said it last year after watching the tapes his foot was in the crease before the puck went in the crease then in to the net.
