For my Media Studies Mock Exam one of the questions is why do people watch television sport? Is it just to support your own team or is there more psychological reasons for it?

because they can live their fantasies through their favortie players or teams since they may not be physically capabale of playing the sport(s)

its entertainment baby, sport is the great escape for many many people... because its something you can get behind while watching with a *** or a lager and just chill out...
It doesn't necessarily have to be your own team...
I suppose a lot of it boils down to the fact that someday, every now and then, if you watch the sport... something... you might see history being made....

Liverpools amazing comeback in the champions league final (I'm a villa fan you see, but still a great great game)
Ivanisavich (check spelling) finally winning wimbledon.
I'm not saying that its all good, sometimes you'll watch something and get incredibly bored, but its that moment of thrill and excitement that makes it all the more interesting...

sport is intriguing, and fun to watch. most people like to watch professionals playing sports they used to play or play on an amateur or social level. some enjoy the skill and entertainment value, some just enjoy being with other people beer a television and some kind of sport going on so the adrenalin can pump and shouting can be done. It all boils down to the entertainment value.

It's also because your living room isn't crowded like it would be at the actual event.
