I assume you are giving your savings account details to eBay and not to an individual, right? I've been buying and selling on eBay since 1997 and have never had problems with someone stealing money out of my account. eBay is required to protect your personal information so as long as you choose a password that is hard to guess, don't tell anyone what it is and don't fall for the fake e-mails (phishing) that the crooks send out, you should be fine.
The best passwords are complex, which is they contain upper case, lower case and numbers or special characters. You should not use a real word, but if you insist then insert the numbers or special characters inside the word to make it harder to guess.
Are the products safe to buy? Generally, yes. You should do your research and read the ad carefully. Unscrupulous sellers will charge outrageous prices for postage so your good deal isn't.
Be wary when there isn't a photo or the photo is blurry or the photo is from a professional ad. Most sellers are amateurs and use amateur photo equipment. Genuine Coach bag for $25? Yeah, right! Like going shopping anywhere, there are good sellers and bad ones. Make sure you read the seller's feedback (rating from customers). Concentrate on the bad feedback.
Don't get caught up in the bidding. Decide what your maximum price is that you are willing to pay and stick to it. Let it go if someone outbids you. Someone else is probably selling another tomorrow! You will end up paying WAY too much if you take being outbid personally.
Don't spend too much! Good luck!

Yes. It is safe to link your bank saving account to your Paypal account when you create one. Paypal is safe to send and receive payments. I use Paypal to buy and sell on EBay and i have had no troubles with it.
There are 2 sorts of Paypal accounts. My advice to you is to create a PERSONAL account, and that will be very handy to you if sell items because you don't incure surcharge when you withdraw your funds. But you won't be able to receive debit/credit card payments from EBay buyers.
Be careful when you buy used items from Ebay especially electronics by asking questions and checking the seller's feedback.
Furthermore, you have to remember that you can not return an item if it goes faulty (even when you buy new item) because most of the sellers have no warranty of the items they sell although some business sellers do.
I have bought new Panasonic DECT phone and it was broken after 3 months.
I bought new Norton Internet Security 2006 and the software gave me only 222 days free updates.
I bought BT digital corless phone and i found out that the base was faulty but the seller sent me another base.

Most eBay purchases can be paid for via PayPal, which is a part of eBay. It is quite safe. The only risk is the same as with any payment system: the seller might not deliver, or the buyer might not pay.

Go to:
http://paypal.com
That's a safe site to add your account info that way EBay has none of your info, its never safe to add your account info like that unless its your actual bank website, but pay pal is very safe check it out. I personally use pay pal and Ive never had a problem.

It really depend on the seller. For safe side, go with higher rating seller. Pay with paypal if you can. Read the seller rating comments.
Remember nothing is absolutely safe online. Before you put in your personal information you should check spywares on your computer with one of anti-spy program.

I'm assuming you are talking about PayPal? Has been very reliable since eBay bought it.
Check the feedback rating of the seller you are dealing with. If they have lots of negatives or a low number...you are taking a chance.
