Yes, RAM having 2 types. SDR (Single data rate) & DDR(double data Rate) but on your pc SDR& DDR slot is available???
DDR (only 1 notch) & SDR (2 notch)
If DDR slot is there then U update RAM to 512 because today 128 RAM price is high. In that money u get 512 RAM.
If u does not have DDR slot u use 128(or 256) RAM. Is good & easy process
also check ability of motherboard. if is old u can not update.

u can add another 128 if u have the another ram slot in working condition, to check u dtach ur ram and plug it into the other.
if it works. take the ram to the shop and show that and ask for an new one of same type (i.e,)of same speed say 266,333,400,...,same size 128mb, same type DDR, SDR,
etc,
if u buy a new 128 it will cost around Rs.800/-
If u want to play multimedia games then go for a 256 mb ram and sell ur old ram so that if possible ur ram speed can also be upgraded up to ur mother board's maximum limit.
because most of the games some times faults with double ram due to the difference among those rams.
But if due to an accident if ur ram is damaged the whole ram will be spoiled if u have only one.
because sometimes if two rams are there the if one damaged, another may work by a probable condition.
choose what r u going to do all the best.
a 256 ram may cost around 900 to 1000 rs.

Depending on age of the PC, you may have to use pairs so 128 MB RAM to get 256 MB maybe 2 64 sticks.

It depends on your motherboard. That is the part of the computer you plug the RAM into. It is highly probable that you will be able to just add another 128MB stick, but each motherboard has their own manner of allowing for this. Also you need to be careful and make sure you buy the right type of RAM. RAM is not only sold by size but by other qualities also. Like speed and technology. I would examine the ram you have in your system and find out what it's qualities are then buy another stick of the same type. If you can match the model that would be even better.

Yes you can, Pls check your mother board, it should have slots for adding RAM. There you can place the new RAM. Before buying check the type of RAM you need. If you are not sure take out your existing RAM and ask for a similar one. Then you will not have problem with compatibility. In India it should cost around Rs 1200 to Rs 1500.

Yes you can add two different RAM sizes on same computer. The RAMs must be of same type (DDR1 or DDR2 or DDR3) and must have same FSB speed. My comp has a 512MB and a 1GB DDR1 RAM stick for a combined memory of 1.5 GB. So its possible. Check your motherboard specifications to know the MAX amount of memory supported.
