It's probably low power enough to not be too bad but where would he really ride it? They're not street legal so you're limited to your property (assuming you have a bit) or parking lots which might be dangerous. A mini-bike or trail bike might be better since you can do some dirt riding.

Since it has a longer front fork and he's leaning back with his feet up, it might be a bit harder than a mini-bike. Plus, the fork sticks out farther making it harder to turn and more vulnerable to someone backing over him (assuming sidewalk riding).

You want to purchase a street bike for a 7 year old?

Do you have a large paved area for him to ride (on your own property)? Do you have the proper safety gear, including a full-face helmet and leathers that can hold up to scuff abuse?

If you answer yes to all these, then the electric mini chopper might have a vague possibility of being the right bike for your son.

However, if you don't have a nice paved area to ride, the electric mini chopper may be the most frustrating gift you could possibly buy for him.

Dirt bikes have a short fork angle for quick response and proper handling in dirt, gravel, all soft surfaces.

They get the rider directly over the footpegs so they can stand up and get their weight lower on the bike - this drops the center of gravity and makes it easier for the bike to stay upright on soft surfaces.

A dirt bike (even an electric one) has soft knobby tires that are designed specifically for soft surfaces. A street style tire is very slick and unpredictable on soft surfaces.

If you'd like any idea of what you'd be getting your son into, just watch any street bike rally videos that show Harley riders negotiating dirt or gravel roads - you will see some very tentative riding, quite a bit of weaving, and some riders with their feet off the pegs (used as 'training wheels').

If experienced adult riders have a tough time with this, I don't believe your son will have much fun in this situation!
