There's a lot of PC answers but there's really only one.
We are bred to form groups. Evolution over millions of years has fostered group mentality. If there very little food, we're bred to protect our group and defend our resources against other groups. Monkeys do it, Chimps do it, gorillas do it, our ancestors did it. Exclusion of others is a basic human drive. It's what causes religions to hate each other even when they pray to the same God. It's responsible for classism and the notion that royality are better than commoners. Put that genetic impulse into something as creative as a human mind and you get complex and horrific results.
Put someone down and you reenforce your special group. It's not barbaric, it's human - it's been with us since the dawn of time and has never stopped. Maybe we will learn to control those impulses, but we will never get rid of them. They make us human. Unfortunately for your specific case, since Black people were the most subjugated people in recent history, they still are the object of the most direct hatred.

I know what you mean - I wish there was an answer to your question, because maybe then we could do something to change things. It is a sickness I think. Perhaps they have some kind of mental illness. If that is true then it may be that racism is a curable illness - if we could just find the correct treatment. I suspect however that is just intentional ignorance and hatred based on nothing but an evil and twisted culture bias. If that is true then there is no way that such people will ever change and the best thing we can do is to treat them as the criminals they are. We do not ask why people are criminals we just punish them for their misdeeds so perhaps that is all that can be done.

I am very disturbed by the websites that get away with racist remarks and the like. And I am probably the age of your parents, maybe your grandparents-- and I don't recall there being any more racism (at least not in Canada) then than there is now.... it is really getting sick and I apologize for all the ignorameuses that people this planet. I am happy for your question and hope that it causes some people to really think about the impact of racist remarks on others.

Racism is constantly fed by the media, society and family influence. Those mills run all day everyday and keep racism alive and well today.
It's a sad testimony to our ultimate fallen state. There is no excuse for racism of any kind. If people are still racist in this day and age, it's because they make a conscious effort to remain that way.
How do you begin fix that level of arrogance and ignorance?

Racism equals uneducation. It's just that some people are so uneducated and closed minded to actually learning something new that they don't realize how uneducated they are. We are genetically all exactly the same. It's just going to take a few more generations for people to understand that. I think most of us are tired of it. Just remember that people that feel bad about themselves are the ones who need to dog on others to try to make themselves feel better.

Wow. This is undoubtedly critical. People simply presume that your profile photograph is meant to to appear very similar to you. I understand precisely the way you believe. My situation is vice versa, I use white profile pics regularly however I'm truthfully black. They're both utilising useful experience and don't seem to be for the reason that this choice or are randomly guessing.

Racism really is about power. People are usually racist bcuz they feel that they are more powerful than someone else. You're right, it is very barbaric and it's just getting old. Let's move on people.

I know the feeling! it seems OK for everyone to put the white race down , and we have to laugh it off , like we don't get offended too. I think people need to look past the color of skin ,and know we are all humans beings . what is the deal with racist people , thinking one race is better than another?

the only reason racism still exist is because the blacks want it to.. without the race card they all would have to work and provide for themselves..they want something for nothing...lawsuits etc..... If they would let it go , and raise their children not to hate the white man "like they do " then racism would not exist.

Yes it is.Why not judge a man by his charactor & not his color. These types of people must live a very shallow life. They need to get real & expand their horizons~see the world as a whole not the smallness of their own lonely sad world that they have surrounded themselves in .
