Some spotting can occur during the first few weeks- this is because the foetus is attaching itself to the womb. However if you experience cramps or bright red blood, I would advise seeing your GP.
I work as a secretary to an Antenatal GP and you'll be happy to know that light spotting is quite common. But like I said, if it is causing you concern, see your GP- worrying about it will cause stress and hormonal imbalance which will make you feel worse.
Hope this helps.

I have absolutely no idea why this happens and my doctor didn't have much info for me about it, but this also happend to me. My daughter was the same age as your son when I was as far along as you are and I am now 9 months pregnant with a healthy boy. My doctor had me put my daughter down for a nap every day and sleep whenever she did. Get any rest "possible" and drink lots of water. I've even had to put a baby gate up in my daughters doorway while she played in her room with her toys so I could sit on the couch or in bed with my feet up for an hour or so. Go0d Luck! I know it's hard! :o(

Get yourself checked out. Any blood loss from the vagina during pregnancy should be treated with caution. If it's bright red, the bleeding increases and/or you get any pains/cramps then don't hang around! Miscarriage is unfortunately pretty common in early pregnancy and you need to find out what's happening.
Good luck!

I don't want to scare you, but I would go see your Dr. asap. That's not a good sign. Do you have cramps, or anything else? Some girls do have periods when pg. Good luck!! With one of my children I did the same thing, and it turned out to be nothing, but still check with the doc..

Hi this happened to me too. I started to spot then a few days later i had a really heavy bleed, i too was 5 weeks preg.
I don't want to worry you but you need to see your doc. Or do what i did and go to your nearest A&E dept.
It may be a threatened miscarrige, this is where you are threatening to loose baby and need bed rest. please dont ignore it and hope it will stop, get it checked out. Good luck to you!! xx

This happened to me. We were financially strapped and I had to work. I prayed and then I spoke to the baby and said, "I love you but I cannot stay in bed. Please hang on and let me raise you". He was born a very healthy 8# 11 ozs and he is 39 years old now.
Put ice on you abdomen do not put heat.
Bless you.

~If you're worried about losing the baby, worry. Spotting early in pregnancy is not a good sign.
There is nothing a doctor can do to prevent a miscarriage.~

CALL YOUR DOCTOR NOW. I am going through this right now. You can read my question to get further details. Good luck with everything. You could just be spotting, some women do.
