Always have the baby elevated when he/she has a bottle. When you give her a daily bath make sure to dry her ears and also that she doesn't get water in her ears while in the tub as that can aggravate it. And also if your baby has allergies or a stuffy nose make sure to use saline drops in them to flush out the mucous. It will prevent the mucous(snot) from building up in her nose and will be less likely to go to her ears. Use a humidifier every night to keep her from getting conjested. Allow her to sleep in an infant carrier to elevate her head so that she can breathe better. Never put q-tips or anything inside her ear unless a doctor orders it! Also if she is starting to get an ear infection she will fuss and tug at her ears a lot as well as fever can be an indication. So you will know when she gets it. But otherwise just try to keep her healthy and to make sure that she is getting her vitamins and nutrients from recommended amount of formula/breastmilk. Dehydration or lowered nutrition can break down her immunities and make her susceptible to colds and infections.

If you breath too close to my son it seems like he gets an ear infection. Make sure when you are going outside, even if its just a few feet to the car that he has a hat on that covers his ears well. The ones with the little flaps that go under the chin are the best. I go a step further and also cover him with a blanket. When you give your child a bath, stuff some cotton in his/her ears and put a little peice of tape over them to make sure it stays. Just make sure you don't get the babies hair in the tape. If nothing else helps just get the tubes, but they can be more trouble than help. Your doc may also know more ways to help.

Take her to checkups often, when they are babies its very dangerous for them to have ear infections and no action is taken. My mother had an ear infection when she was young and she has problems because of it, it can get very serious so ..like i said about take her to the doctors for her routine checkups
Good Luck-And God Bless

keep her ears covered at all times while outdoors. even on nice days. the least little wind can cause an ear infection. Babies don't have the kink in their ear canals that older kids do.

some babies you cant, for they are born with smaller tubes inside their ears, so all you can do is try...
dont allow water to go in their ears while bathing (while they are babies, for they outgrow the tube problem)
dont ever stick q-tips inside the hole of the ear, this only makes it worse
have a ENT (ear nose throat specialist) look at him/her if the problem continues. they have so many options today.

avoid propping a bottle up and letting her go to sleep like that. Milk/formula can seep into the Eustachian (sp) tube and get trapped, rot and cause the infection.

Breast feeding prevents ear infections. If you don't breast feed, choose slow flow nipples, so the baby sucks harder.
