Asian Games were started by India in 1950, Brainchild of Jawaharlal Nehru. After 56 years, we are still nowhere close to top. Smaller countries like Kazakghstan & Thailand are doing better than us. China has done great in last 20 years. India needs to give a lot more importance to sports. Children needs to be encouraged by parents & local government bodies needs to provide facilities. It is atleast one generation plan & then only India can unleash its true potential after 20 years if we start now. Asian Games can help but it is only one platform. We need to give a lot more importance to national & state level games first.

I am personally witnessing Doha 2006 and the efforts by the indians, especially considering the odds stacked against, has been outstanding. Asian games have no longer remained "Asian". There are plenty of outsiders which have stepped in wearing asian country clothing. So when we manage to beat the Chinese and Japanese, keniyans and ethiopians beat us(consider athletics). It will definately be a good exerience for our guys. The facilities here are amazing , no match to what our guys practise and train with.

There is no chance, because India cannot provide sources what other countries can. And politics got to be out of sports. What a sportsman need to look forward for, there is no hefty pay for a sportsman. There is no future for a sportman in India. compare to other countries like US.UK,Canada. Every year it's a same story.1 billion people ina country still can't win one Gold in Olympics. Shame.
