I was reading a book by Bill Bryson "A short history of nearly everything" the other day. Here is the question "if we manipulate the human gene structure, would that effect the way life is known to us ? would it be possible to create a species that does not require oxygen to breath, no food to get enrgy, no disease, no aging. I have heard some scientists are already working on the "no aging" idea. How far that is true ?

I can definately imagine a type of lifeform that does not require oxygen to live. Just because we evolved on a planet that has plentiful supply of oxygen, doesnt mean that we wouldnt have evolved if there was no oxygen. For example, Trees and plants do not require oxygen. They utilise carbon dioxide molecules in their biochemical synthesis of energy. Essentially, life boils down to several basic biochemical reactions. If an organism evolves a way to create energy from an environmental substance, that does not require oxygen as a reactant in the energy production, then of course, life is possible!

Also, in regards to your no-aging question.. i have thought about this a lot. The cells in our bodies are constantly replicating. Millions of old cells die every day, and new ones take their place. (Homeostasis). If homeostasis could be preserved indefinately, then theoretically, we could live forever. However, our cells degrade over time, and this is the cause of aging. The degredation is caused by free radicals in our bodies that eventually damage our DNA and damage the cells ability to replicate. If these free radicles were NOT in our bodies, then our cells could continue to function (presuming that the person does not contract any deadly dieseases or conditions) persumabley indefinately. So i would say that given time, the proverbial "fountain of youth" could possibly be discovered....

if you manipulate the human gene, human will have disorders. You cannot create a species that do not require to breath, because cells needs oxygen to function, unless it is an unaerobic bacteria

We integrated "particular needs" books to help the different little ones comprehend. we've rearranged furnishings so as that a baby with a actual incapacity ought to take area to the fullest. We treated the youngster like he replaced into purely yet another between the youngsters. it truly is needed. we've made own seen schedules to bypass alongside with the faculty room agenda. We made particular we had adequate crew so as that all little ones, at the same time with the youngster with particular needs, would have the appropiate quantity of instructor-baby interplay. that somewhat is a extensive question. :-) It somewhat relies upon on the choose.
