My 1994 Saturn SC2 just turned 151,000 mi. It's now showing a leak in the sunroof, getting water all over the interior top. It's started to show a problem with the timing chain (very audible). It's also got one CV joint breaking down. I also think that the oil rings in the pistons are starting to break down (it only smokes when you push it a bit hard). Is this worth fixing? I'm seeing that it'll cost me about $350 to buy the parts to do the timing set and replace both axles.... but the time required is immense. And as far as I can tell this is maybe a $800-$1000 car even if I do fix it...

I guess it would depend on if you have the money to buy another car, I have the same car and I like it. I have 120 some thousand miles on it and it runs fine, well until I ran it through a ditch last week that is, now I'm finding out that it's not too easy to find the parts where I'm at.. I have the same problem with the sunroof but I found another one at a salvage yard for $40. Like I said, it all depends if you can afford a better car or not, If I could afford a better one than I would probably get rid of mine but I can't so I would probably go with the $350 fix.
