Some MP3 players have a 'Line In', which allows you to record directly from tape or CD players. Check your player for a 'line in' and check your manual.

To use the PC:
CD: Pop it into CD drive. Open Windows Media Player. Right-click on the bar at the top and click on Tools - Options and set your format & location (on the 'Rip' tab), then click OK to close the windows.
Back on the main Window Media player screen, click on the 'Rip' tab in the center, between 'Library' and 'Burn' (Version 10).

Tape: To record from tapes, there are some devices that allow you to plug a tape player into your PC. Check your local computer store (Fry's, CompUSA, etc.).
