Practice, practice, practice. There is no one way to draw anything, and style is something that comes to you with time, experience and patience. Don't believe it when anyone tells you that you have to be born with talent to draw; it's a skill that can be learned just like anything else, and the folks who say otherwise can probably barely hold a pencil and don't want to see you succeeding after they gave up so easily.

If you want to see some examples of professional sketching, check out the loomis artbooks available on http://www.fineart.sk or http://www.conceptart.org/forums

Good luck!

By drawing. Get a sketchbook you can carry comfortably with you and draw everyday. What? Anything. It is skill in the process of seeing and putting it on paper that you're after. This is the really only way to learn.
Look up books on drawing at Amazon.com and try a few.
Take a class in drawing (sketching is just informal drawing).
One of the best books ever written is Bert Dodson's "Keys to Drawing."
But, remember, you have to work at it--anyone does.

A wonderful book that I use when teaching art classes is "Drawing with the Right side of the Brain." It is full of students' before and after examples and has a nice representation of famous art work showing the various techniques.
It starts with the basics and advances to more complicated skills. It teaches the student to draw what they see, not what they think they see. It helps to coordinate the eye-brain-hand connection. I recommend it for everyone who enjoys drawing as it covers all levels of talent and techniques.
