Your Vizio GV42L has a built-in HDTV tuner.

Depending on your distance from the local broadcast towers you may need an exterior UHF antenna. I have included links to a website that will assist you in determining which antennae type you’ll need and another website with a photo of the most common exterior HDTV / UHF antennae.

Satellite TV provides a superior picture for less money than Cable.

Currently Dish Network has the most High Definition channels and has always offered the most international channels.

Negotiate for the best deal prior to signing a contract. You are only a new customer once and can get incredible deals and equipment. I highly recommend the Dish Network 622 PVR.

If you live in a big city, appartment building type of dwelling then you can forget about the free HD over air...it just want work, too much metal and concrete in the building to get a signal, you might get 1 or 2 stations...not worth the $50 a decent HD antena costs.

I think Dish Network has great sales and they also have a huge international line up, though international channels require a separate dish. Just make sure that you decide to go with Dish Network or Direct TV, you get somebody to refer you, you will get some bonus cash. I can get you a referal for Dish Network if you need.

Well, the cheapest is free. HD comes over the air in many, many markets now and all you need is an antenna and the tuner (built into many sets). You'll only get local channels/network affliates and such but hey, it's free. The networks and PBS look terriffic in my area and I'm not paying dime. I can also pick up a weather channel equivalent and a 24-hr. music video station. Cable and Dish are overrated and overpriced. For movies, you can always the Netflix route or something or even better.....go down to your local libary. Again, free. And sometimes they have a selection that is surprising.

They the two have their experts and cons yet I even have DirectTV and this is super! Now, cable possibly boasts extra approximately uninterrupted provider for the time of thunderstorms and such, yet we've long previous with the aid of some climate in Austin, TX those days and particular because of extra suitable satellite tv for pc sign than maximum different "dish" centers accessible, weren't affected yet for no extra effective than afew minutes! sign may well be restored even while typhoon wasn't over! i like the applications additionally dish centers ofter with extra channels than cable corporation's and coffee-fee. real dish fan, thank you! satisfied holiday trips to all...
