If we hop into the way back machine we could list DOS as a super operating system. Windows uses DOS but DOS does not use windows.

Tons actually, but very few main stream ones. Mac OS is one, FreeBSD, and various forms of Unix are all operating systems. I am sure some independent programmers even wrote their own.

3) Linux (an open source form of Unix)

Sure, several; Firefox comes to mind, but consider this, as a web browser gets more hits, it gets more hacks.

Proctect your system, your browser isn't going to do this by itself.
