Heck no, you're not crazy.
I love thunderstorms for the following reasons:
- They are mysterious.
- They posess an element of sexiness.
- Rain is absolutely wonderful in itself.
- The way lightning flashes across the sky is breathtaking.
- The sound of thunder sends shivers up and down your spine but the good kind.
- I feel invincible if I am standing outside.
Man, thunderstorms are just incredible.
Period.

You must live in an area without much lightning. Sounds like you might be a Californian. If you lived in Colorado while a very good dry lightning storm and winds were going on after the leaves had fallen you would turn pale and quickly head inside. Some places have spectacular lightning and that certainly makes storms more exciting. When there is a torrential douwnpour it can be exciting because it leads to flooding and flash flooding of streams. You can also see arcing coronas along high voltage power transmission lines on towers. This is usually when it is raining so hard your windshield wipers no longer provide sufficient road vision. A hurricance or full gale is too much excitement. Even worse if you are on a small ship or boat at sea. No one needs that much excitement. But, yes -- if you need rain it is very good when it comes. I agree that most of storms are rather nice when they are the more ordinary type. Currently we are seeing an increase of the more exciting type.

Nope you are not crazy. I think it's just the adrenalin rush you get from them. It can either make someone excited or someone scared.
I personally like the thrill of them. You don't know when the next lightening will strike and how big it will be. You also don't know if it's going to be a little clap of thunder or a house shaking amount.
I love the storm we had one time when we were holidaying at the coast. It went for most of the night and at one stage there was such a loud clap of thunder the apartments shook and all of the fire alarms got set off.

Wish I could remember the scientific explanation I once saw! I know that storms give me mental, & physical ENERGY. Most of all, they're so very dramatic. Awesome. You certainly aren't crazy, & I envy you. I've lived in California, (the Bay Area), most of my life, but I will never stop missing the thunderstorms in Wisconsin. We so RARELY have them here. The sound of thunder is so powerful, & ponderous--like the sky is this huge, substantial mass colliding with itself. Perhaps it's more "magic" if I don't intellectualize it. & lightning! My older sister used to hide under the bed, & I'd go running outside (but mum always dragged me back). I've often thought that dying from a bolt of lightning would be my choice--& I'd just end up a little pile of ashes. Lucky you, wherever you are! Enjoy!
Edit: I just looked at the answers, & cwriter20 referred to what I couldn't remember, & then--kismitt21 from Wisconsin! Great!

Oh! I LOVE thunderstorms!! I used to live in the desert and we would get spectacular ones - walls of lightning! They're exciting and fascinating to watch. It doesn't hurt that there are enormous amounts of ions in the air and it makes your body feel....well...electrical?! I miss them.
