Marrakech is amazing and you will have a great time!!!
Do not worry about your hotel being close to all the famous places. Most hotels are not far away and taxis are very cheap.

mararkech is an amaizing place
the most appropriate place where to stay, is "mohamed 6 street" which is the old "france street"
everything is in this street, shopping area, hotels, coffe shops, night clubs...
concerning hotels, it depends on ur budget
1- if u are a rich girl, really rich, so enjoy ur stay at "palmeraie golf palace" in a palm plantation in the north of marrakech, the place is really amaizing, even if it's far a bit from teh city center, but the hotel insure the transfer....i would suggest "Riad Mogador Menara", and "Atlas medina and spa", if u are not alcohool drinker, i would suggest you the new 5stars"riad mogador agdal", there is no alcohol there
2- if you have an average budget, kind of 4 to 3 stars, i would suggest: "Atlas Asni", "riad Mogador Opera" and "meryem's hotel", they are clean, good service, and well located in the city center, france street..
3-night clubs: "pasha" is very good,"new feeling" and "paradise "are good too
4-restaurants: if you are looking for a moroccan traditional show, "chez Ali" would be the perfect place, this house offers a traditional fantazia show, with excellent moroccan food: speciality: diner-- "hajj idder" is a good oen too, he is offering a good show and food too
5-monuments and places to visit: "Bahia palace", "koutoubia mosquee", "menara", "dar si said moseum" and of course the famous"jamaa el fna", don't miss this last one please, it's the place that makes marrakech so special, shows by marrakchi poeple, traditional stuffs, traditional markets, music,food, all what u want!!
6-excursion: once in marrakech, u are near the Atlas mountains, so u can go for a hald day excursion to "ourika" and "siti fatma"
you can also take the route of "lalla takerkoust and Asni"
you will love the nature around there!!

well sorry I get ur Q so late.. but hey its all good.. my dad is Moroccan my is Algerian so basically IAM Moroccan every year when I go to morocco the best area I would like to visit is Marrakesh exactly in "jamaa la fna" witch is this big area where u will find food .. party's ...adn bully dancer and Oslo u will find I lot of toUrist there coming from all over the world but to be advice don't go by ur self take someone WHO knows morocco.. or knows the area.. the hotels deals.. u can find it online in any . hotels for less... I work for hotel businesses.. and always when I travel anywhere in the world I get my discount.. witch is 40 bucks a night.. but to morocco u can stay for a week in 4 star hotel its not ganna be more then 400 dallrs... if u have any Q pliz fell free to email me .. bye

My favorite hotel is just 10 minutes outside the city...it is called the Aman-Jena...if you wanted somthing closer, the Momounia is a good pick.
