I am happy to see that somebody got it right. Screw the frank discussions. If i don't like something or somebody, thats the way it is, and there is no use discussing it. People who are obsessed with PC are usually unamerican. They aren't willing to accept that everybody is entitled to an opinion. Even if it isn't the same as theirs. PC people are the most intolerant of all. You'll recognize them by the words that they use. (intolerant, ignorant, hater, ) Ignorant is their favorite. As long as I am not breaking a law, I can have the opinion I want. That's the American way.

Why do all americans have to worship GOD if we invite people from other religions to live here? Why do we then pay for their schooling and why are we the ones learning their language? Why is the sky blue? Why do roses only bloom at certain times of the year? The main thing is that we as humans have become weaker. We can't even survive without virtually living in a plastic bubble made of all sorts of floor cleaners, psychiatric assistance, guns to ward everybody away, and helmets to sit on so we don't get our balls blown off.

Political Correctness binds (or should I say blinds) in both directions. There are many important discussions we should be having in this nation -- about race relations, about abortion, about freedom of religion, about the rights of homosexuals, about immigration, etc... - but extremists on both sides of the political spectrum make it impossible for anyone in the middle to open their mouths. And while I can't say I particularly side with anyone who uses racial slurs, even if their speech is constitutionally protected, I do think the people are sometimes too sensitive about these issues, which makes it hard for any real discourse to take place.
I think the problem is that sometimes special interest groups are simply a lot more assertive about protecting their rights than Americans as a whole are. Sometimes there is even a back and forth of political correctness that leaves one simply sick. Take the whole War on Christmas thing, for example. First stores change their signs to "Happy Holidays" because of perceived political correctness that isn't even there in my opinion. Then Christians start throwing a fit about that and demanding that stores say "Merry Christmas" to anyone and everyone who passes through the doors of any store on any day through the month of December. It's ridiculous. Doesn't it make more sense to just say "Merry Christmas" on December 24 and 25, and "Happy Holidays" the rest of the month?
I mean, seriously, why can't we discuss abortion in this country calmly? Isn't there some rational middle ground between the Pro-Lifers who bomb abortion clinics and refuse to let stem-cell research use 3-day old zygotes that are going to be put to death at some point anyway in order to save lives, and the Pro-Choicers who think a woman should have 100% say over her reproductive rights no matter how viable and healthy the fetus becomes?
Sometimes the best of intentions can end up causing the worst of problems. For example, when left-wing protections against sexual harassment and violence meet up with right-wing "tough on crime" zero tolerance measures in schools, the result is often blind stupidity that vilifies normal behavior. A 3rd grader who kisses a girl he likes is not a sexual offender. A 7th grader who accidentally leaves his Swiss Army knife in his jeans after a weekend camping with Boy Scouts is not a terrorist. Yet in the name of political correctness, these children end up getting suspended, expelled, and very often having their school careers ruined. It's ridiculous.
And I'm so tired of people telling me I'm un-American and unpatriotic if I disagree with the actions of my government I could spit. Hey, it's not just my right to point out governmental abuses and mistakes, it's my responsibility.
Even if it is all done in the best of intentions, the whole political correctness thing is out of control. If we in this country don't find a way to talk to each other calmly and rationally and try to find a middle ground on some of these more controversial issues, then the thing we'll have to worry about next is the thought police.

The answer is yes, and also, being PC does not seem to apply to everyone. Being so PC has also had a pretty devastating effect on our efforts in Iraq too. Gotta be so careful to do the RIGHT thing so as not to offend anyone. I think we are past the point of being able to do anything about all this PCness though. Seems that everyone gets offended at everything. All this "sensitivity" has become so misdirected, I am really tired of all the whining.
have a MERRY CHRISTMAS everyone!!

I think you've hit the nail on the head. It's just another bandaid job by the feds to keep people from being honest. I'm waiting for the day my cow has to be called a "Milk delivery specialist", Or My dogs "Urine placement engineers" It's getting to the point of idiocy.
I am no longer just a farmer. The government wants us to tag ourselves with "Wheat grower, Pork grower, Beef grower" etc
It does not make a damn bit of sense to make people more separate. White= Anglo-American. Black= African-American. Hell I'm a Native-American Wheat/corn/vegetable/pork/beef/milk grower.
I used to be a Staff Sargent in the 101st airborne. So now my correct title would be......
Native-American Wheat/corn/vegetable/pork/beef/milk grower.
SSgt 3rd BCT 101st Airborne Ret.
How stupid is that?
As long as we have to be politically correct maybe I better say...
How lacking in intelligence is that?

Well, you are right!
Our daily writing is riddled with "he/she" and using a "she" forcefully in places where you would simply use a "he".
Even out of the context you would not use "black" as a color.
Law-suit happy individuals and their attorney cohorts have turned an open society to a claustrophobic PC (Politically Correct) people.

I'm sorry. Our committee believes your question should read:
Is that area of land which is geographically located in the center of the northern part of a continent once inhabited by cultures less sophisticated, but in no way inferior being physically deprived of oxygen by the non-voluntary confines of democratically enhanced language empowerment?
Please do not interpret our constructive linguistic building upon as a comment regarding your ability to overcome linguistic challenges in any way.

At least in America there is still some concept of freedom of speech. Up here, at college, you can't say anything out of line. College is not for education, it is for furthering one's political and social agenda. I am not criticizing someone at the French or German students' club here or people practicing their faith.
Everything from pro-life demonstrations to people demanding creationism being taught in biology class to women's rights groups to anti-sexual harassment propaganda to the 'biblical truth on the family values' to lectures on intelligent design to ecoterrorists out of jail giving speeches to ex-Satanists on religion to ex-military members and WWII vets. I hate this nonsense. You can't have a classical studies class or take Cantonese, which people are interested in. You can't put up a painting or an ad for your typing business or an ad to sell your car. You can't drink coffee or have a microwave, but any political issue, go right ahead.
