My paper ran an interesting editorial today claiming the GOP, and not the Democrats have a "Southern" problem. It used to be that the Democrats were thought to have a problem because they couldn't win in the South. Now, it looks as if the GOP can ONLY win in the South, and that their fundamentalist, science-rejecting, racist attitudes and policies are costing them votes from coast to coast (except in the South, of course). Do you consider this to be true?

Actually, Ruth, if you look at the data, white voters throughout the midwest abandoned the GOP in droves in the November elections. The Democrats picked up governships and state legislatures all across the country, including in the Midwest....

Well, the idiot monkey in my display picture was so terrible that he caused many members of his own party to vote against their own party.

"Fundamentalist, science-rejecting, racist attitudes and policies"
Point 1
Lets start with racist attitudes and policies and lets add to that bigotry towards christian that you (a Dem no doubt) have displayed. The Democrats are for affirmative action by definition institutionalized discrimination, the republicans by and large do not support AA. The Dem's are discriminating based on race and it gets them vote so they will surly continue to do so.
Point 2
When is the last time you have heard of christian fundamentalist question the Laws of Thermodynamics (2) or the General Gas Laws (3)? The answer is that you haven't. That is becuase fundamentalist christians are not rejecting science (that is somthing that can be tested via the scientific method) but they are and have been (for 150 years now) rejecting the theroy(s) of evolution which is a unifying feild theory (a philosophical construct or model used in an attempt to explain data obtained via the scientific method.) However, if you can't comprehend what i'm telling you a basic philosaphy 101 course at your local community college might be the next step for you. It is a theory (philosophical in its nature and unmeasureable via the scientific method) and it dose controdict several scientific laws (measurable via the scientific method) such as the 2ed law of thermodynamics (entrapy) and the Law of Bio-Genisis to name a few.
Point 3
In a recent pole christians were rated as being much more trusted by americans than atheisits (they ranked below Homosexuals and Muslims), that being true (and I think it is) and in light of the dems attemps last fall of trying to apear more "religious" with even N. polocy and M.Albright paying lip service to religion; do you realy think that political analisis is fit for anything more than propaganda, i don't. Without the fundamentalist christians the Republicans can't win in national elections (electoral college) and moderate (remember the libaterians are the most funded 3ed party in the US and they have no grass roots backing of substanal size, they can not win becuase Americans reject them.) republicans are wanted by the dems becuase they know the conservative base wouldn't vote for them. Thus the dems win hands down.
Republican platform 2008, that is if they are to win as follows.
1.The Mexican boarder (a must)-close it and round up the illeagls and deport them. If you say its not theisable you lose if you say yes your in.
2. Play to the base Pro-life, Pro-Family, Pro-Gun ect.
3. Spending must be cut or they will not stay in office long.

If you ask whether anybody considers it to be true whether or not Republicans are racists, you'll get a gaggle of Democrats to say yes.

The GOP is experiencing only a temporary setback. There are going to be more Republicans in Congress next year than there were during most of the 1970s and 80s.Republicans still dominate the congressional delegations of Nebraska, Missouri, Michigan, and Ohio and are still the dominant party in many state legislatures of many of the states in the Midwest and West.

Not unless the Midwest is now considered the South. And the problem continues to lie with the Democrats, unless they can come up with a better candidate than Mr. Kerry, a Northeast liberal.

Colorado?

And how did liberals fare with the homosexual marriage votes?

Governorships hardly count, using your theory, since plenty of Southern Dems won governorships.

And as long as the country is full of "blue dog" democrats, I hardly consider this a problem, btw.

Mayor Ray "Chocolate City" Nagin of New Orleans. Speaking of racist attitudes.
You want to know why the South is Republican. Because there is a Democrat Race-Hustling Poverty-Pimp on every corner down here keeping black people poor in order to maintain their fiefdoms and power.
Here is a recent radio ad in Atlanta. This is not the exception. This is the rule. Crap like this comes out every election.

"This is Congressman John Lewis."
"And I'm Mayor Shirley Franklin"
"And I'm Andy Young"

(John Lewis) "On November 7th we face the most dangerous situation we ever have. If you think fighting off dogs and water hoses in the sixties was bad, imagine if we sit idly by and let the right-wing Republicans take control of the Fulton County Commission."

(Shirley Franklin) "The efforts of Martin and Coretta King, Hosea Williams, Maynard Jackson and many others will be lost. That's why we must stand up and we must turn out the vote for the Democrats on Election Day."

(Andy Young) "And especially for John Eaves for Fulton County Commission Chairman. Unless you want them to turn back the clock on equal rights and human rights and economic opportunity for all of us, vote for John Eaves as Fulton County Chairman"

(Lewis) "Your very life may depend on it."

(John Eaves) "This message paid for by the committee to elect John Eaves."

You proud?

The city of New Orleans has been run by liberal Democrats for 50 years. They turned it into a nepotisitc cesspool of political corruption and ran the city into the ground. You proud? Of course, the media and Democrats don't say a word. It must be nice to be able to destroy a city and not be held accountable.

Actually in the South the propaganda is "go along with you this is or we will sterotype you". SO a lot of them dont vote out of disgust for political games.

Some shades of the old South do exist, and there is a Dem=Gay propaganda that is unfair, but the political landscape is changing because of the voters renewed interest in wanting accountability from their elected officials.

None of it is true and is a sick attempt of childish name calling. Rejects of science--Al Gore and his lie of global warming (he is a southern democrat) Racism-- How about Robert Byrd (former leader of the KKK and a southern democrat)

Yes. If libertarians were smart, they'd have left the party of religious crackpots a long time ago.
