Depends on the situation...
If it's a child, I would kneel to their level and ask if they know where their parents are and proceed from there.
If it's a woman, I would ask her if she needed any help.
If it's a man, then I would just give a concerned smile and pause for a second. If he doesn't react, then I would walk away and say a prayer.

Depending on how many people are standing close behind him/her, I would either walk on, or put my arm around this person and ask if there's anything I can do.
(I won't if there are standing some men very close by....I've read somewhere that the one crying is the bate, and when a "good-doer" approaches her/him, and the attention is focussed on the person crying, the "gang" moves in and grab your bag. I don't know if it's true or not, but I'm not gonna push my luck....if someone would steel my bag, I would be the one crying....well, after frantically trying to get my bag back first, that is)

I would ask if there was anything I could help them with. A couple weeks bk I saw a lady come out of a Dr.'s office she was crying n then got in her car, called someone n then she really let loose. I felt soo bad thinking she had just gotten some really bad news. I couldn't offer a word cuz she was in her car, otherwise I would hv said something.

It depends on where i am. If it was just on the street i would just be thinking "that poor person. I hope they are okay" but if its at a party, or somthing where there are a lot of people that i know i would ask them what was wrong and see if i could help them.

If it wasn't a compromising location (others were around), I'd pray that I wasn't being tricked and go offer to help.

I'll give my most sympathetic smile to that stranger and then will silently pray for him/her.
