My cat had a large bump on her back, so the vet said they should keep her and drain the puss out of the bump. They pretty much strung a "rope" of gauze through the bump, but when i got home tonight she ripped it out with her mouth. Now it's an open wound with some fresh blood, she didn't seem to be bleeding anymore. Tomorrow morning she goes in to have the little gauze piece removed. What can I do to solve this? Realistically.

The gauze was placed after the vet treated your cat's abcess so that the wound would continue to drain and heal from the inside out. Your cat should be fine until her follow up exam tomorrow. If you and your cat can tolerate it keep the wound openings clean until then with a solution of hydrogen peroxide diluted with water or betadine diluted with water. You can also apply neosporin after cleaning the wound.

Which you could call the vet and he will as a rule give recommendation over the telephone totally free. The cone is a must and i would not really recommend a plaster due to the fact that if it is likely one of the stronger material ones the cat can get to the fibres and get it wrapped round their tongues. The opposite ting to do is get some bandage and some lint etc and dressings used on people and wrap the cat up now not too tightly in the bandage to preserve the wound. Dont use antiseptic until vet says so as will also be fatal to the cat if ingested dependent on the chemicals. I would advise boiling some water and letting it cool and use a easy q-guidelines to take off any of the blood whether it is dripping as it is the most hygenic dependable strategy to do it. Get to the vets asap in the morning!

Until she goes back to the vet in the morning, it might be a good idea to attempt to make a "cone" for her head so she won't keep licking at her back. I had to make one once. I used a plastic container (large margarine, cottage cheese, etc.), cut a round whole in the bottom (make sure you don't cut a hole too big that she'll slip her head out of!), cut a slit down the side of the container so that you can get it around her neck like a collar, then run tape around the whole container to fasten up that slit.
Now she has a cone on her head and can't get at her wound.
And you'll be able to get some sleep tonight without worrying about her.

Keep the wound covered with some antibiotic ointment and a gauze patch until you get to the vet tomorrow. As long as she's not bleeding she should be fine.

that happened to my friends cat skittles. just leave it but keep an eye on the cat. did the vet give you a cone to prevent the cat from licking. problably not since you're in this situation. the only thing you can do is leave it until the morning.

I am totally amazed at the truth in most of your answers as I see more guessing on some of these topics than I see truth. . .
A+ to all that responded to you and you should really feel at ease because of the good and correct answers.

If it was going to be removed anyway, then I'd wait till morning.
