I would love a quarter horse gelding the are great even mannered horses! And you don't have to deal with a moody mare at certain times of the month. I had one that passed away a few years ago he was a hardy, old guy that even a friends cousin that had cerebral palsy was able to ride and I never had to worry.

I would rather own either Andalusians, or European warmbloods of some sort. I am a snob of sorts, and refuse to own an American Warmblood until a more definate breed standard is set up and used across the board although there are many examples of the breed I like. Having had a Holsteiner, I would love to own another one. I like these breeds personalities on the ground the best, however there are great examples in all breeds. Really it comes down to training, and if I've done the training, I am usually happy with what I get in the saddle. I love the QH & TB I ride at my barn, the QH's I've taken to clinics and trained, the Arabs & Morgans I first learned on...

Truthfully, I don't care what breed of horse I ride, just how they have been trained (barrell racing horses just love to take me for rides) and how well they have been handled (I've been to a pay-ride place up near my aunt's home in Northern Ohio where the owners were so ill to the animals that the authorities were called). The best horse to ride though, is one who you know is not going to take off with you on board and one who will listen. My mom's former husband had a tennessee walker (she was painted brown on white, but I can't remember the breed) who would respond to every order, or move.

Depends for trails and just fun I get out our Morgan and ride him, if getting the cattle then I go for the quarter horse. Everyone has their own ideas about which horse is better for what but my husband has a quarter horse cross that he uses for everything and loves it. It all depends on how the horse was trained, if you have a horse that is only used as a cutting horse then you don't want to take it on an all day long trail ride. About the only thing I won't ride is a pony and that is because my feet drag and as far as trails go a gaited mule beats out just about everything if it has been trained.

I dont know if all stock horses are like mine but she has the smoothest paces eva...so it would have to be Stock horses or the TB's and Arabians come in at a close 2nd, TB's- long n slow
Arabians- coz ...????...just tinking bout it but i dont no y i like to ride the arab...mmmm....ill have to tink bout that one
But i dont just look for the breed to ride. If the horse is trained well u get a good ride but if it ant its more difficult...so wot eva each different horse brings i love it all the same

Honestly breeds don't matter. It's the temperment and level of riding that matters. I like riding horses that are fast but easy to stop if needed and that have a sweet, trustworthy nature.

Thoroughbreds.
I rode as an exercise rider at the track and I love those fast horses. There is nothing like the feeling of breezing along on the track just you and the horse and feeling the horse strech out under you and just enjoy the run.

I don't care so much about the breed as I do the training. If I could chose, I'd love to ride an upper level dressage schoolmaster because they are so much fun.

Depends on the horse really, but if you're asking about gait, Paso Finos because they are so incredibly smooth. If you're asking about stamina, Mustangs, and overall temperment, Quarter Horses and Baskir Curlies
