In my opinion, if you have a problem common sense says you should fix it. Even if it's a temporary problem, you should still try to fix it. But when arguing against suicide, some people think calling it "a permanent solution to a temporary problem" is a valid argument. If suicide really were a solution to a problem, that would be a reason to do it, not to not do it. Am I right or wrong?

you are right...

"if it were a solution to the problem..."

but the question is ... is it really a solution? to give up your entire life for a momentary imbalance cannot be intellectually called a solution... its rather a horrible disaster.

but to answer your larger question.. is it good to solve a problem with a solution...

life aint maths... life aint a problem... there is nothing to fix... you just have to really "live" those moments...

but how do we know how to live those moments? we don't...

but that attempt... that discovery and our expressions is life..

In my opinion, if suicide is the problem, then suicide cannot be a solution to that problem. In other words, the problem can't itself be the solution to the problem.

Also, in my opinion, the statement to the effect that suicide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem is cute, but that's all.

Umm, I'm not sure this is a valid question.

You are working under the assumption that every problem has only one solution. That's not true. Most problems have several solutions.

Just because a "solution" can be argued validly, does not make it the BEST solution.

I hope you have me as your beneficiary on your life insurance policy or just sit back and enjoy a cup of coffee and find an answer to your problem. Solutions are for you to drink or to clean with!
