I have a pagent in 1 month and I want to do a dramatic presentation for my talent but I dont have a soliloquey that fits me. First of all I'm a teenager and I want something that makes me sound intellegent but not trying too hard. second I'm african american so something with a little attitude. Third I love history so historical background or even a monologue that is historic itself will do. Anyone know any websites ? Even if you think the material you have won't fit me still send it I'M DESPERATE.

Shakespeare has many wonderful soliloques and the language is so beautiful. His themes are as pertinent in these days as it was when he wrote them.

-Juliet of R&J
-Orphelia of Hamlet
-Elizabeth Barrett Browning (poetry)

Best wishes.

First of all, I will ask you to reconsider the "dramatic" part of the dramatic presentation......unless you are the next great actress, a dramatic monologue rarely goes over well with the judges. Would you consider a comedic monologue? It is still a dramatic presentation, but it will be much better recieved by the judges.

Talking With by Jane Martin is a great place to start....11 monologues written for women that are funny, yet poignant.

also, look at Neil Simon's "Star Spangled Girl"...a funny monologue about a pageant girl.

Dangerous Minds
written by Ronald Bass, from "My Posse Don't Do Homework" by Louanne Johnson

Louanne Johnson: The mind is like a muscle. And if you want it to be really powerful, you gotta work it out. Each new fact gives you another choice. Each new idea builds another muscle and it's those muscles that are gonna make you really strong. Those are your weapons and in this unsafe world, I want to arm you. Okay, look. if at the end of the term, you're not faster, stronger, and smarter, you will have lost nothing. But if you are, you'll be that much tougher to knock down.

I don't know the website, it is called 'Ain't I a Women?' by Souourner Truth; I don't know how long it is or how long it has to be, I don't mean to be offensive, but this is all I got.
