What is a good computer I should buy?

Question

I am always surfing the internet, I am a college student so I right a lot of papers, Microsoft Office is a must have, Instant messaging is how i talk to a lot of my friends, i love taking and storing pictures. I also play movies and music. Anything I can store on my computer I usually do.
So, are there any ideas for a new computer? I also prefer laptops, but if a desktop is better, let me know.

The way to figure it out is to design your "dream desktop" that will do everything that you want it to do and find out what that will cost. Then double that price if you want it to be a laptop. Portability is expensive.

Honestly, it doesn't sound like you really need that much computing power. You aren't running hardcore physics engines. You're not doing high-end graphics and rendering. Dell has sent it's customer (dis)service to India. So unless you speak Hindi, you are going to have difficulty getting someone to understand your problem if you get a Dell.

Your a Person that will need a Good (not the greatest) Video Card. Try some ATI Radaeon. Any that are 8000 or higher.

You will want a good amount of memory for those movies and incase you run more then one program at a time,.. so atleast 1 gig of Memory/Ram.

The Processor and everything else won't be so important. I mean,.. Hard Drives are cheap, large, and common these days.. so that won't be important (you don't need the biggest size). The Processor,... is,.. well there are only like a couple good processors right now and everything has them,.. so,.. don't worry about it.

Little Tip,... Avoid eMachine... they are full of products being tested,.. only one person I talked to hasn't had their eMachine smoke and/or catch fire.

get a Microsoft computer there probably $100 or $200 dollars.
also a desk is nice, at Office Depot or staples has a really good sale on desks.
I would get a Comcast Internet if you don't have write now.

Hey! I prefer Toshiba. My husband ordered it on ebay..it was 500$ and it is the fastest laptop I've had , and i've had it over 2 years now and it hasn't failed me yet! It has a long battery life and I love it! Good luck with your choice.

If youre at college get a mac. No viruses. They may be a little more expensive but without viruses you will save a lot of time and worrying

Compaq, Dell is better option. Actually it depends upon your budget. Laptop is easy to carry & handle. It little bit costlier than desktop.
