I got this fab brush cleanser at MAC, a pink liquid that comes in a 7.9 oz bottle, it is great and lasts forever, since you only need a little bit to clean your tools, use an old towel to pour some drops and then lightly rub your brushes in it, until they dry, and they dry super fast. Before this, I used a neutral soap, but was not as effective and had to let them dry for one day at least.

I would clean then after every use. You can wash them in warm water and soap. It doesnt have to be anything special. (You can try dipping them in alcohol too) While using the brushes, have a cotton ball, tissue, or paper towel to wipe off the eyeshadow or whatever you're using so you can use the brush more then once, and in more then one color and so when you go to clean it, its not layered in powder, and liquid.

I clean mine with warm water and a little shampoo, about once every two or three weeks. It depends how much you wear make-up eg if you wear it everday then it's best to clean them every week or if you only wear it occasionally then once a month would probably do. :) happy cleaning~~
