I'm 39 weeks pregnant and every time I pee, I notice little clumps of a mucousy substance in the toilet. Honestly (not to be gross here) but it looks like snot. I'm not having contractions, the baby is 3cm dilated but my family has a history of delivering late. There isn't anything else going on that would give me any reason to be concerned. It's just a little gross.

Last time I went into labor, they had to break my water. I have a Dr. appointment on Wed. Should I call tomorrow morning anyway or is this fairly common?

P.S.- Thank GOD for anonymous question forums!!!!! LOL!

I think you should call your doctor first thing in the morning and gets his advice. I have never heard of this before.
Maybe this link can help you out.

this is fairly common and seeing as though i just had a baby im sure of it. unless ur spotting, ur water breaks or any bright red heavy bleeding ur ok. thats just ya mucous plug coming out in pieces it may be 2-3 weeks or maybe less before u deliver. just take it easy and do squats for the time being to ease the pressure and help keep things going in a timely and smooth fashion.

I wouldnt call your Dr over this unless your bleeding with it. As most everyone has said its your mucous plug....you lose it anywhere from 3 weeks to an hour before labor...its just a sign that your dilating and preparing for childbirth! good luck!

What you are seeing is your mucous plug. This is (yes...snotty) material that protects your baby from bacteria entering the womb. You cervix is what is three centimeters dilated. You are considered in active labor when your cervix becomes 4cm dilated. There is no need to worry. this is completely normal and does not mean you are in labor. I think it's safe to say that you will not be going late! Good luck!

I'm pretty sure that when you are pregnant, you just produce lots of cervical mucus. Yep. It's gross, but that's just the way it is.

The last weeks of pregancy suck. I hope your little one comes just a bit early for you!
