2 words; Second Amendment! That is my right, and I should have the option to exercise it. As a woman who lives alone I have personal reasons for wanting to have a gun. I also used to be in the military so I am used to them, and I just happen to LIKE them. I go to the range and practice allot, and I am big on safety. Where I live you can obtain a permit to carry one. People want to take this away?? the same politcians that want to take it away, have people with guns protecting them. I honestly think it would be worse with gun control. I mean in NYC and Washington DC you can't get a permit to carry a gun. But they have way more gun crimes then where I live. Criminals will get guns regardless. People who snatch purses, commit carjackings, assualts, rob banks, etc. don't go to safety classes and get background checks for guns, they steal them and use them amongst themselves. With that in mind many law abiding citizens such as myself should have them for protection it may be a deterrent too. Most gun crimes aren't committed by people who have a license to carry them or have them in their home. We also don't need gun control for accidental shootings, those people need to be punished in our court system especially if they are absent minded parents who let kids get a hold of them. Some of these same people make sure the parental controls are intact for TV, they monitor those video games, and that music, but don't have a lock for their gun ????? I pray I never have to use it, but if I am placed in an extremely threatening situation there will be no hesitation.

i think we should have the instant background checks and that's about it i hate the law that bans automatic guns after 1983 or 85 i cant remember i mean we can still have automatic guns from before that and i do like i could get a MG 42 but not a mp5 whats up with that i just don't think criminals should have guns but im all for regular people having then and i love the concealed weapon permits

I believe guns do not kill people/people kill people.I do not think that gun control will decrease the crime rate.It will only change the method in which the crime is committed.No matter if it is suicide/domestic violence/murder/rape etc..I do not believe the gun is at fault.It is the person behind the gun that is the problem.I believe that there should be an age limit/waiting period/screening process prior to purchasing firearms.

I think they should be regulated. That is, people should have to go through a screening process to own one. But, they shouldn't be taken away. I've had my life threatened & there are home invasions here. I have dogs for my alarm system & guns for my protection. I have never had to use a gun yet, and hopefully never will.

It should be very hard for convicted criminals to get guns, but everyone else should be aloud to have a gun. If you outlaw guns, good, law abiding citizens won't buy them, but criminals will. Criminals usually have the most to gain from owning guns, and they're the ones who disregard laws. So, outlawing guns would likely cause a situation where criminals have guns, but no one else does. That scares me.

Control isn't a bad thing...I belive in background checks, and there is no need to fully automatic firearms to be avail, i belive in the waiting period.

if guns were banned.. I also belive that the only ppl that would have such items would be law enforcement, and the criminals

Education and proper parenting are necessary in a household with firearms, the weapon does not fire itself.

Gun control would be a marvelous thing if criminals adhered to the rules of registration and the waiting period. As for me, I don't expect them to do it and the evening news proves me out. Gun control is for the government and not for the citizen.

I believe that control is necessary. However people should be allowed to purchase and use handguns and hunting rifles responsibly and for home protection.
