we know some of them are in the death squads and the next time we fight them they will use what we taught them against us.

Yes. Its important so that the better they fight, the more threat they will be in the eyes of the world, which will justify another attack on them. We need it right now because there is tremendous international pressure on us to leave Iraq. So while leaving, lets sharpen their teeth a bit so that they can bark and start biting,,and then once again after a couple of years, we can use our whips!!
Its a classic policy to keep getting oil and cash out of Iraq on a regular basis without provoking protests throughout the world!
Baker and Hamilton report actually suggests reposting the Bath (Saddam's party) leaders back to the govt, hoping they will reform the army to post another attack on US and hence give US a justified chance to attack Iraq again.

Syria and Iraq (with distant support of Russia and China) are training and equipping our enemies with the best weapons and tactics available. That is why the Isrealis had such a hard time in Lebanon, they found hardened bunkers, night vision equipment, and a communication network they could neither eavesdrop on or jam, not to mention that Nasrallah ran the Hezbollah operations from the Iranian embassy which was of course "out of bounds" for Isreali attack, and they have since repatriated the bodies of the Iranian and Syrian "advisors" who were killed in action. I'd think it better to train troops to wear military uniforms, not burkas, and to fight without using human shields, and to understand that is how honorable soldiers fight, like men, not like the skulking cutthroat animals we face.

It is strange indeed. We'd better make SURE we are training the right people for the job. Many of those we have trained are the ones who are attacking the citizens of Iraq, and our own troops. Insurgents are showing no signs of giving up. 2,925 of our men and women have died and rising. I'd hate to see what will happen over the next 10 to 15 years of occupation.

Oh, please. Make up your mind what you want to criticize the US about.
If we are going to bring home the troops at some point, the Iraqis will have to be better killers than the terrorists.
Or we could stay there and continue to fight them ourselves.
But we cannot have it both ways.

It's all insanity. The Maliki government is totally at the beck and call of Iran, who is supposed to be part of the axis-of-evil. So basically, we are fighting to make sure Iran's puppet government stays in power in Iraq. Good job, Bush.

so what do we do....just not help that ones that risked their lives to vote? Extremeists hardly have to be taught to be better killers.

I know. The U.S. is playing into their hands. Even IF we had a legitimate right to be there, the level of incompetence is astounding.
