The bad treatment given to the innocents does not justify that way of thinking.

Racism is the irrational hatred of a race. What you describe is a statistical analysis (which may or may not be valid). This is not per se racism.
You would have a better understanding of the criminal system with some more research. You would find for example that far more black men than white men are given jail time for crimes such as drug possession for personal use. White men frequently are given community service or let off with a warning on first offenses
Another analysis you might do is on economic strata. Most crime occurs in poor neighborhoods, regardless of the race of the people there; however, as an ethnic group, more blacks are below the poverty line and are living in poorer neighborhoods than white people, so again this affects the statistics.
The analysis of crime and criminal behavior is complex; but there are several good books on the subject - check out your local library for more information.

You can be racist if you want to, it is a free country. You statistics are wrong tough, blacks are not 25%, they are more like 10%. Also, social conditions are the main determining factor when it comes to crime. I also don't believe you are right about the 75% figure. By the way, I would not trust you until I got to know you. Oh, and one more thing, slaving an entire group of people because of their skin color is not very civilized.

1. Where did you get your percentages?
2. The Mass Media of America is Biased. We see all sorts of stories about other countries in the news...but rarely do we see stories out of Africa. The media tend to accent crime committed by those of different color than the majority, and to a greater extent, ignore the crimes of that majority.
3. Most of the African-American crime I see comes out of poverty. People are trying to get by in this world, even if it means stealing.
4. You mustn't generalize about all African-Americans.
5. Everyone is biased, no matter how much you try not to be. It is human. Racism is an extreme form of bias. What is important is to be tolerant and NOT racist.
6. I do not trust anyone, regardless of color, until I get to know them.
I hope these statements sum up the current beliefs held by many college students, as I am one.

That's a bunch of poo. I don't know where you're getting your stats from. Maybe you'll provide them in an additional details? Even if your calculations were correct, which they are not, I could definately say that racism is the reason the white population gets away with stuff. I can think of plenty of cases. While you're at it if you're going to play the race card. Why don't we be racist towards white people because they have a higher percentage of serial killers and if you ask me i'll hang out with a drug-dealing theif before i'll stand in mile distance of one of those guys. All races commit offenses. Lets judge people by their deeds not their skin because judging by skin just keeps the gap open.

The difference here is that a "racist" would claim that this population is genetically pre-determined to be criminals. Instead of giving the benefit of the doubt as individuals (until proven otherwise), a racist would simply say that they're born defective.
I've been assaulted, robbed, etc by white Indiana rednecks living in small towns. I've been treated very well by Mayan Indians, and I had wonderful black neighbors in one apt complex. I find that the color of their skin, texture of their hair, etc has nothing to do with the way that people live.

You can't judge a people by the small percentage that commits crimes. I'm a criminal defense attorney in a county that is 95% white and I see nothing but white folks commit crimes. I still trust white people as a rule, though.

"Why is it not OK to be a little racist towards them? (not enough to be violent, but enough to not fully trust them until you get to know them)"
Well since when any type of ism ok?let me explain to you three steps necessary to form an "ism"
1. Use cultural bias
2. Sate who is good and who is bad
3. Socialize everyone to believe the "ism" to be the truth and act upon the truth
We as your "Black People" are seen as a certain group, which are often stero-typed, let me ask you this, why should treat you equal, and your racist?

- maximum each and anybody is in penal complicated on drug-correct costs; even with the actual shown truth that blacks make up 14% of the drug-utilising inhabitants they finally end up being sixty 3% of those jailed for it; prepare that to different drug-correct parts and also you've were given the warfare on drugs Now the upward thrust in black crime from a lengthy time period in the past comes from the breakdown the kinfolk

Blacks do not commit 25% of crime, they are just the ones that get caught and charged because they don't have money to buy the system out. The system is made for people with money-lawyers, bond, etc.

It's not ok to be racist, because you're generalizing. Maybe they do commit seventy-five percent of the crimes, but that doesn't mean ALL of them commit those crimes. Being racist against all of them isn't fair to the ones who haven't done anything and who might actually be embarrassed by what those guys who commit those crimes are doing.
