our internet is with wild it (through the optus server) we have a 512 download 128 upload connection we have a netcomm NB5PLUS4W modem but we only get a connection speed of between 0 some days and max of 256 wildit tell us it must be us that are having the problem so we went out and bought a new modem (same one) we have tried un plugging every other phone in the hose tried plugging the modem into another out let but still dont get anywhere near the speeds we should download rate is between 0-10kbps i would expect at least 50kbps please help as im now out of ideas without paying $200 to have telstra come out and test our lines hope i haven't missed anything but if i have just post and i will amend it

we also had a same sort of problem with our last internet provider veridas but just as all the problems were sorted out they went bust : (

thanks for the replys first of all this is a wireless network that runs three computers (one through ethernet and the other two wireless) when it goes down they all go down we have made over 10 complaints now even to the communications ombismen and after we complain it comes good for a couple of days gets up to about 300kbps still short of what were paying for but better then after it comes good they close the complaint and it all goes bad again what are we suppose to do were in a 12 month contract with 10 months to go and they just keep putting the blaim back on us and yes if it is not our problem they pay the $200

I think this is not a problem from your side. Its the problem with the service providers. This generally happens when they donot have enough routers for the existing no. of users.

The only solution will be either your service provider must increase his routers or you opt for a better service provider.

I don't know why they charge $200 when the problem is from their side. I suggest you strongly bring up this point incase they charge you.

You may have a problem with not your modem, but check your NIC (Network Interface Card), the card you plug your network cable into on your computer. Try using another network card and see if that fixes it.
