BCCI will have to make plans for the development, improvement and nourishment of cricket in India.

Few steps I can cite right here:

1. Fix objective and targets

2. Make 5 year plans on regular basis (Like Central Planning commission)

3. Consider all aspects of the game while planning: Talent search, Support to players/state boards, infrastructure to develop (pitches, academies, coaches, umpires, stadiums, etc.), schlorships, etc

4. Start awards for best talent, best batsman, best bowler, best fielder, best coach, best stadium, etc. at all levels of cricket including school cricket, under 15, under 19, Ranji trophy,etc..

5. Take good use of the former cricketers of repute like Gavaskar, Vishwanath, Srinath, Kapil Dev, Bedi, Venket Raghwan, Prasanna, etc.

6. Form a committe of experts who would examine, analyse, correct and develop techniques of batsmen, bowlers and fielders for the selected 100 cricketers including Indian team members, domestic level cricketers and young talents.

I hope such a planned view can be adopted. It is just a replica of the broad framework which can be devised.

Before writing the framework, a team of BCCI officials, plus former Indian cricketers and personnels from different cricket academies, can visit the various other academies and framework prevailing in other countries like Australia, SA, Pakistan, etc.

i don't think one person can save this one day series for India its going to have to be an all round performance , tendulkar is getting starts but nobody is hanging around long enough with him to build on the score the bowlers need to sort there line and length out as well its either too short or too wide and why oh why is Agarkar playing he is too slow and gets put to the sword by the England top order ( oh that's right his dad is on the selection committee) but without the likes of kumble and harbi singh in the side they are really going to struggle i thought dhoni might of produced but nothing at the moment slot vvs laxman in cant hurt and he can destroy a bowling attack when on song. End of the day they all need to improve to stop the rot that's set in

I strongly feel that the following steps will be helpful:

1) Replace the players who have fared poorly in South Africa
with new talented players for the series against Sri Lanka
and West Indies.

2) After the series against West Indies and Sri Lanka, assess
performance of all the players for the past one year.

3) Select a pool of 30 players on the basis of their performance
for the past one year.

4) Split these 30 players into 2 teams and play couple of
matches between these teams.

5) Prepare pitches similar to West Indies pitches for these
matches.

6) After these matches, assess the talent, potential and
capabilities of all the 30 players and select the best
players for the World Cup.

- invite Pollock, Ntini, Nel, Kallis & company to a sumptuous meal at an Indian curry party on the day before the first test match

- pray that Dravid (or Laxman if Dravid doesn't play) wins the toss and opts to bat

- expect India to bat for five sessions (about 10 hours) and score close to 500 runs (preferably two centuries - one by Dravid and one by Sehwag or Tendulkar or Ganguly)

... how's that for a start !

1. The officials should start taking tough decisions.
2. Present performance should be the key parameter for getting selected and not past performance.
3. We should learn to grow out of aura.
4. Most importantly, BCCI should coach, train and give practice to our players in South Africa and Australian pitches as our performance is bad in these two countries.

Really Team India needs some changes. It's a good thing that they are giving opportunities for new players, but they should also include senior players in the playing XI.

People should stop worrying about the game for a while . With less focus , players would start performing better. Just a thought ; but as per the present situation ; just might work !!!
