As a religion or a people nothing!
But the fundementalists, more known as terrorists, since they claim a MUSLIM HOLY WAR on the rest of the world that's where the hatred sets in.
The gas station owner how is a muslin from the middle east that lives in the states and complains as to how this country is ran. If you hate this country so much, then why are you living here? You left your homeland to start a better life and now you're pushing your ways and ideas upon us? Don't bring that crap here we don't want it.
Also the fact the Muslims from the middle east again think they're being stereotyped at the airports. True, YOU ARE. The rason you're being stereotyped is because you look just like you 19 of your cousins that bombed the world trade centers in New York. If you're not a terrorist, than you have nothing to wory about. You think everyone likes taking their shoes off and being treated like a criminal just to pass through airporn security? Most of us are not from middle eastern descent and airport security is something we put up with to secure some sort of satisfaction that our plane won't be hijacked on mid air.
Middle eastern muslims should be happy they are not being single out. How would they like it if we made a SEPARATE line, just for middle easterners? Oh, you look like ou might be from middle east, right this way sir, ma'am. Body cavity search coming right up.
Don't get mad cause it's your turn to get hated. Every single race was and still is hated by the other. Just because you crawled out of the sand pit in the last 10 years, makes you no different than the rest.

To start with, their actions, rioting, burning what is not theres because they are up set about their (peaceful) prophet. BS. Then here in the united states i have heard a pretty high up Muslim man , on Fox news no less, insist that the United States was built on the precepts of the Koran and Islam. He meant it. A lie straight out of a twisted heart. They also do not apologize for their violent actions. It is all someone Else's fault. Do you remember when Van Gogh"s brother was murdered because He or his brother had "offended" some Muslim something. I hate the way they treat women, and the women do just what victims do. Stand up for their tormentors. Remember Patty Hearst? Girls, say you are raped, over there in some places you must have 4 male eye witnesses to the deed to testify for you in court. How STUPID MEAN ANTI FEMALE. Those 4 men should be locked up as they watched you be ravished and did nothing. And the other story, a girls brother did something illegal, so for punishment the court or high muckitemuck, let a bunch of men have sex with the girl. That was to punish the boy, the family, these thinking patterns are not civilized. They are hurtful, hateful toward women.

It depends what people. I don't think it's all muslims that people are intolerant of, just the fanatical one's. Most western cultures have been raised with drastically different religious beliefs and ways of life - although western religions all incorporate the bible, which teach self dustruction ie: Suicide, (strapping bombs onto themselves) as wrong and sacreligious. I think the extreme difference within particular religious groups is the main contributer to your question. Muslims face the same torment from the western race as blacks/coloured faced when our society wasn't so accepting of *****'s intergrating into "caucasian" environment. Muslims do need to understand though, that this kind of way of life has never been observed by western religion before, and continuing to follow this 'way of life' in a country such as Australia, what do they really expect? A welcome ceremony for Allah? Australians are hospitable, but only to friendly people and friendly nations. Maybe with the right education, muslims and western religions can tolerate and respect each other. No religion is worth the war we are all fighting.

Ignorant stupid people think that just because a few Muslims decided to come to the states and blow up some National landmarks, all Muslims are terrorists and should be hated.
I have nothing against Muslims, I have lived in Bahrain for two years and there were some very nice Muslims there, people just need someone to blame, and when a few Muslims decided to come crash planes in the U.S., those people got someone to blame.

The dogmatic Islamic ideology, and the strict enforcement of religious practices to maintain the closed system, and rote memorization of Koran solidify dysfunctional cognitive schemas. Defective cognitive schemas, culture and conservative personality continuously interact, in mutually supporting and shaping explosive behaviors.
Typical Islamic thinking errors include:
* Polarized or all-or-nothing-thinking (e.g.: believers and non-believers, daru-ul-Islam, dar-ul-harb)
* Catastrophic Thinking (all infidels will go to hell)
* Discounting the positive, accentuate the negative (all kafirs are trying to get Muslims)
* Emotional reasoning (emotional justification for bombing, beheading, terrorism)
* Labeling (put a global label on non-believers as kafirs)
* Minimization (blame the victim, denial, alibi)
* Mind Reading (Muslims know what non-Muslims are thinking)
* Mental Filter (Failure to see things wholistically)
* Over Generalization (making sweeping negative conclusions, Jews are pigs, Christians are rats)
* Personalization (Muslims believe Kafirs are behaving negatively because of Islam)
* Tunnel Vision (only see things the Islamic way)

It is not so much as hating Muslims, it is the people that take Muslim and Islamic Ideals and distort them into Al Queda and other terrorist organizations, like Hezbella etc....Those people that have taken the word and made into their own psychotic agenda. Do you see that or near sighted and always assume everyone hates you?

Muslims, in general, I have no problems with. It's the radical fringe of the Muslim beliefs that gives me and many others pause.
(Forgive me if the spelling is wrong on this phrase) Allah Akbar - many translate as God is great, but I understand it literally means Allah is supreme. This negates a belief in God and denigrates any Christians.
Couple that with extremists who believe that murder of those not following the Muslim faith is OK, and those that believe wiping out those of the Jewish faith is rule number one, and you can see why we have a bit of concern.
Your last comment about "even the ones in the states" leads me to remind you of a Muslim from California who so believes these teachings of the radicals, that he has become sort of the press secretary for Al-Qeida, and as such proclaims his hope for the death of America.
Religious tolerance of Muslims to the point of lessening our security, as well as our rights of the pursuit of happiness, is just not in the cards.

The terrorists and bombers have given all Muslims a bad name. Unfortunate, but that's the way things are. Best bet for Muslims is to be diligent about condemning the violence and doing everything they can to bring perpetrators to justice.
