When an ipod's rechargable battery dies out (meaning it only gives about like 2-3 hours on a full charge), can it be changed or do i have to get a new ipod?

it can be changed. look for them on google or ebay.

It cannot be changed. well, it can, but your risking the life of your ipod by breaking it open. Apple has provided a service for you to do it for a mere 70 dollars! Apple sucks that way, its the same with all of there products, with the iMac computers, you cant upgrade, say, the CD drive, or the Processor. its all build in.

So, you dont HAVE to get a new ipod, but you will have to expect to pay a hefty sum to get it changed by the pro's.

Yes you can change out the battery, Install a new one and the unit will be fully functional again.

Usually you have to send in your iPod to Apple, and they'll either replace the battery or send you a new one to replace that one.
