In many states now, businesses cannot deny a woman the right to breastfeed her baby anywhere, regardless of whether or not she covers up. I live in Florida and here a woman can breastfeed in the middle of a restaurant (or mall, store, post office, etc.) and cannot be forced to leave the premises, cover up, or move to a different location such as a restroom. This is true of any public place including government facilities and private businesses.

If I were you I would refuse to breast feed in a rest room, I do...If someone tells me to I ask them if they eat their meals on a dirty toliet seat , they shut up right away. If you are in a resaurant ask for a corner booth and where ever you are cover over w/ a recieving blanket. Contact your local la leache for nursing mom friendly stores & reaturants. And for local laws. Also all Motherhood maternity stores wlcome nreastfeeding moms they either have a nursing lounge or will give you a comfy seat in a dressing room

In the US it is illeagal to deny a mother the ability to breastfeed her child. Although they may not be comfortable with it, leagally they can't make you stop. They may offer you a more out of the way spot for your comfort, but you may breastfeed anywhere.

in ny you can breastfeed anywhere, anytime. as it should be. i dont think you are REQUIRED to coverup. it is a breast, thats the whole point.. i would think most people would feel more comfortable covering up in some way tho.

In Massachusetts you can breastfeed anywhere, and I don't believe you have to cover up.

Since it's legal and protected in most states, they all have to "allow it" if they don't want bad press or legal action.

it shouldn't matter where you do it, as long as you have respect and courtesy for the people around you and cover up properly.
