she is familiar territory. he was with her for 20 years. and even though he came out of the closet doesn't mean that the relationship that he had with her wasn't meaningful and they could both still love each other and that's still their way of showing it. If i was with someone and they kept going to there ex every weekend i would tell them why don't you just try to work on whatever it was that was missing there. They obviously are not ready to make a choice of something new or keeping with the familiar things. maybe the wife will try to be open to more possibilities.
