It would depend on what upgrades you got with it. larger harddrive, wireless ethernet, more ram, extended warranty, all of these things combine to set the final price on any computer be it a laptop or desktop.

It depends on the specs of the computer. I would pay a thousand bucks for a laptop if it had the right configuration for what I need it for. Remember...you get what you pay for. (Unless you get it from a private owner. Who knows what you're getting then.)
