Inbound -- Traffic from the Internet (or outside network) that arrives at your firewall.
Outbound -- Traffic from your computer (or inside network) that arrives at your firewall.
A 'one way firewall' is typically just an Inbound firewall.

Windows XP sp2 only filters incoming traffic. ZoneAlarm, etc (as well as firewall devices) filter traffic in both directions.
I'm of the opinion that 99% of the Windows PC do just fine with the XP sp2 one-way firewall, providing they are running a good antivirus software package. Therefore, I disable Norton and McAffe firewall software, which makes the PC run much better.

It is a firewall, that filters incoming and outgoing traffic. Windows firewall was updated in April, of this year, and now filters incoming and outgoing traffic. It is just as good as any other firewall, if not better..

Firewall that stop connection on incoming and outgoing ports. Zonealarm is good free one. As far as disabling firewall and using XP that great as long as you don't get a virus or spyware that start sending info out of your computer...

A two way firewall protects from inbound and outbound events, so prevents from sites from connecting to you and from you to connect to other sites (or applications).
