The first sign I had diabetes was numbness in my feet. When walking barefoot on a solid floor or in the shower, I noticed they felt numb. Told my doctor, had a blood test and next day was told I was diabetic. Unfortunately I had none of the usual symptoms, such as thirst, tiredness. My diabetes had progressed to cause neuropathy in my lower legs and feet. So I think if you have any symptoms, get an immediate diagnosis before it gets this bad. Maybe I had some symptoms, but ingnored them because of no family history of diabetes.

Being thirsty a lot, sores that don't heal, tiredness, coloring of your nailes, there are a lot of different sings but the most impotent thing is to get your blood sugars tested by a Dr.

I went into the doctor with what I thought was a reoccurring bladder or vaginal infection - it stung so bad when I peed (on the outside) that I cried. I was also fat, couldn't get enough to eat and had pain in my feet. And had it in my family.
