I have my first Son on the way and my wife and I are thinking about naming him hadrian. We were wondering if that was the kind of name that would get him teased later in life?

Hayden sounds better to me.

I do think immediately of Hadrian's Wall, but I doubt that would be happening in kindergarten. In my opinion, Hadrian isn't a name that will make your son an obvious target for bullies.

Like the previous posters, I think the worst thing about the name is that people will constantly make the mistake of calling him Adrian. He'll have to deal with this all his life, and that gets old after a while.

I hate to say anything negative about Hadrian at all. I think it's a cool choice.

I don't like the name Hadrian. It reminds me of Hades....or a painful tropical disease ("Did you hear? Mildred went to the Philippenes and came back with a terrible case of Hadrian! Her entire body is covered in sores." "Oh my, that's awful--and there's no known cure for Hadrian yet."). And people will always think it's Adrian and he'll have to correct them. I am a fan of names that can be made into nicknames, and there's really nothing you can shorten Hadrian into. And, even though it goes against my penchant for nicknameable names, I do like the suggestion of Hayden.

CONGRATULATIONS on the little one and good luck in naming your baby! (And if you do name your kid Hadrian, forget all that stuff I said about tropical diseases.) :)

I love that name, but I am not a good one to ask. Unless a name obviously rhymes with something funny, I don't see any harm in having it be unique. In fact, I think it is better. But many people who were teased as kids don't feel that way, so I'm sure they will chime in here. Hadrian was a pretty cool emperor - peace through strength.

I would not name a boy Hadrian because so many people will call him Adrian. Not that they will tease him, but his whole life he will be correcting people, "No it's Hadrian, not Adrian".

kids will be picked on regardless of their name, so it really doesn't matter. Hadrian is a great name, if you like it, give it to him. It may however be hard for people to remember, he'll probably be called adrian a lot.

Hadrian was, the third of the five so-called "good Roman emperors", so he probally would get teased a lot

I like Adrien and Hayden but Hadrian just doesn't sound right - reminds me of a fire hydrant. It is also the name of a company that make toilet parts.

I don't like it but don't hate it. People will probably leave off the H and say Adrian. He will have to explain the H all his life.
