Try valarian tea, available at your local health food store. And do try to get up and go to sleep at the same time every day. Also get some exercise during the day, just not too close to bed time. Stretching, hot baths/showers and meditation help. If all else fails, benedryl is very safe and non-addictive.

The human body is tuned to "circadian rhythms," which regulate your sleep. They are what make you tired and sleepy at the same time every day, not darkness. It may be possible that your rhythms are out of sync with your sleep schedule. A good way to fix this is to wake up early, never sleep in, and try and go to bed at the same time every night. Avoid caffeine 6 hours before you go to bed. Avoid strenuous exercise 4 hours before bed. Avoid large meals 4 hours before bed.

OK, you want to sleep or stay up? Cause you say both. Your drinking, which will put you to sleep, and depending how much you have had, also make you too impared to drive in a few hours. Be careful. Sleepy+drinking=a super dangerous driver, capable of killing an innocent on the road

Maybe you might be stressed out in some way. try relaxing your mind, or drinking something hot like hot chocolate or hot Ovaltine. if that doesn't work try some sleeping pills to help you sleep hope this works i had the same problem before ^^,

I've had the same problem. what i found to help is not to have to much sugar before bed. also watching a very calm mellow movie i found helps too because it makes your eyes tierd very quickly.also sleepy time tea {funny name i know } is available at any store and it is just a form of decaff tea that helps relax you so its easier to fall asleep. if none of that works then maybe try going to a doctor, you might have a sleep deficit problem
good luck to you!

Try to make sure that you're not drinking/eating things with alot of caffiene close to bed time. Try getting extra calcium into your diet, a calsium supplement before bed or even just a large glass of milk will help. I understand you wariness of taking pills, but try going to GNC and they may be able to help you find something natural to help you.

Many of us in the world would love to sleep without the aid of meds. But sometimes it is just not possible. You can be stressed out and not even be aware of it. Ask your Dr. to be sure.

Eliminate caffeine entirely. That includes chocolate.
Reduce sugar in your diet. Try to do something relaxing before bed.
Also exercise more- your body will naturally want more rest.
